Who would be the audience for your media product?

The research we done was looking at other Noir films with styles we would have liked to use in our OTS and the audience that they aim their films at. We then discussed as a group which audience we believed out plan and plot would fit in to, we decided that our OTS is going to be aimed an male and female audience in the age range of 18 to 25 year olds.

We thought about the generic pleasures that males and females look for when wanting to see a film and added them in to our OTS. Males usually enjoy pleasures such as action, death, women, cars and money in films so we tried to  input some of these factors within our OTS. Men would enjoy Broken Identity because there is the death of Scarlet hooking them in at the end and also the fact that there is a women in short tight clothing with red lipstick which would most likely draw them in more and make them want to watch more to see why she is dead. We did not include expensive cars within our OTS as it is against the genre of Noir and we wanted our OTS to be about the story line and plot, not big things within it distracting attention from it. We haven't included action within our OTS but the situation left between the two men could lead to it witch would create a wonder of if there is a fight and what or who is going to come out of it.

Also most females enjoy watching films with romance, drama, affairs, power within women and men and our OTS contains all of this which would draw women in to see what happens within the relationship and to know why she has an affair happening with another man who sounds like he has killed her, women also like drama which our OTS shows the start of a dramatic situation. The detective is a mysterious man which would create women to wonder why he is like that and if he has a messed up confused background and childhood. The Femme-Fatal character Scarlet has power over the men by having a relationship with them both at the same time without them knowing, a women audience would enjoy this as women are not usually shown as powerful in general films so it would be an enjoyful aspect of our OTS.

The age range of 18 - 25 suits our OTS as they would understand all the situations going on such as the affair and the murder and not get confused about them, they wouldn't find it offensive that there is smoking and short clothing within the OTS because it is expected in films aimed at that age range and they would have seen it before in a film. A way i chose to aim our product at this age range is by distributing our OTS in a picture/art house cinema as at that age people usually prefer going to a cinema that does not have young children or teenages which i found out by asking people within the age of 18 to 25 years old and picture/art house cinema's are more aimed at people 18 and over. Also by distributing our film by streaming it also suits the age range, by asking this age range questions it proved that students usually are on a tight budget so normally do not have money left over to spend on going out to the cinema so streaming is more affordable to them as it can be done free of charge. Also some people enjoy the idea of being able to watch a film in the comfort of their own home and streaming gives them the importunity to do so, this age range is usually students and people who are working so they have a busy lifestyle which streaming fits in to well as they can choose any time of day to watch it where as in a cinema the times are scheduled which may to fit in well with their busy lifestyle. I established the generic pleasures by asking people of the age range, men and women about what aspects they enjoy when watching a film. Also i asked what hooked them in to a film and the most common answers were mystery and drama with a death or action so i made sure the aspects which fit the Noir genre were included in our OTS so it hooks the wanted audience to make them what to watch more and enjoy the OTS.
